Get Involved

See all the ways you can be involved; in fact, you may find more than one that interests you and matches your talents. Check out the opportunities below. If you're ready to lend us a hand, complete the Alumni Volunteer form and send us your area(s) of interest.

Alumni Engagement

The Office of Alumni Engagement works year round to plan gatherings and events for alumni across the nation. You can help make those events a success with your time, skills and ideas. Below are examples of some of the ways you can help Lipscomb spread its good news story. To volunteer to work with one of Lipscomb’s alumni events, send an email to alumni@lipscomb.edu.

  • Assist with event planning and promotion.
  • Help/coordinate contact alumni to inform them about events in your area.
  • Serve as a local host or greeter at events such as alumni receptions and networking events.
  • Host networking luncheons, socials, dinners, etc.
  • Recruit fellow local alumni to form a local Bison Network, a group of alumni in key geographic areas that promotes Lipscomb in the local area through activities.
  • Request to serve on council committees such as the Lipscomb Black Alumni Council (LBAC).
  • Help coordinate an alumni reunion or help others plan and execute memorable reunions.

Bison Alumni Prayer Program

In 2021, the Alumni Association launched a monthly Bison Alumni Prayer Program where program members gather and pray together on a regular basis. Members of the Bison Alumni Prayer Program gather virtually at 7 a.m. CT on the first Monday of each month.

Each prayer gathering includes prayers of thanksgiving for the many ways God has blessed the Lipscomb community as well as prayers over the school, students, staff and alumni. Prayer requests are welcome, and they are shared in a monthly email to program members.

Career Connections

By working with the on-campus Career Development Center, alumni can help students in their searches for internships and jobs. Consider serving as a mentor, hosting a student for job shadowing, participating in a career panel or speaking at student career events. The opportunities are wide open! Email Monica Wentworth, director of Career Development Center, or call 615.966.6296 for more info about any of the opportunities listed below.

  • Mock Interviewer. Volunteer to serve as a mock interviewer to help students hone their skills in job interviewing.
  • Career Interview Subject. Volunteer to be an interview subject, someone a student can talk with about a specific career industry, company or job position and share valuable insight from your career perspective.
  • Inform the Career Development Center about employment positions and internship opportunities available in your company.
  • Serve as a student club speaker. Campus student organizations often seek alumni professionals as speakers to provide insight into specific careers and professional life in the "real world."

Admissions Volunteer

Alumni are essential partners in the duties of the Office of Admissions. Your help allows Lipscomb to make a lasting impression on students considering Lipscomb as their college home. Here are some simple ways you can help bring prospective students to Lipscomb:

  • Refer a student. Complete this Refer a Student form to recommend a student whom you believe would be a good fit for Lipscomb and whom Lipscomb could benefit.
  • Identify local high school counselors. Provide contact information about high school counselors.
  • Connect with churches. Work with your local church youth group or provide appropriate contact information to plan a visit by your students to campus.

For more information about any of the volunteer opportunities listed above, contact the alumni office at alumni@lipscomb.edu and someone will help you!
